
Mary Dioise RamosKennesaw State nursing professors Mary Dioise Ramos and Chinomso Nwozichi have been elected Fellows of the American Nursing Association.
Induction into the Academy is a milestone in a nurse leader’s career where their accomplishments are respected by their colleagues inside and outside of the profession. Fellows are selected based on their contribution and impact to advancing public health.

The school is a strategic and prestigious organization that recognizes the most successful nursing leaders in policy, research, practice, management and education to advance equitable solutions to complex health problems. Academy Fellows have many influential roles in health care in the United States and abroad. Inclusion in the Fellowship represents more than recognition of one’s accomplishments in the nursing profession. Fellows contribute their learning to the Academy, collaborating with health leaders nationally and globally to improve health and achieve health equity by impacting policy through nursing leadership, innovation and science.
An assistant professor of nursing and acting director of graduate programs at the Wellstar School of Nursing, Ramos joined the KSU faculty in 2018 and has established herself as a research and teaching leader. In 2022 he received a grant of $149,974 from the Alzheimer’s Association as well as separate grants from the Asian Resource Center for Young Aging Research. Her research deals with the health issues facing family carers and vulnerable people, particularly those with dementia and those from other cultures. Her awards include the Georgia Asian Times Valiant Award, Florence Nightingale Award, Distinguished Professor in Gerontological Nursing, and Research Excellence Award.
«This honor confirms my belief that through strong research and strong influence, we can bring about positive change in healthcare and change the lives of those we serve,» he said. «This recognition validates my hard work and expertise, opening doors to new opportunities for collaboration, mentorship and continued growth. My inclusion as a Fellow will enhance my reputation as a leader in nursing thinking and providing a platform to inspire the next generation of nurse leaders.”

Chinomso NwozichiAn assistant professor of nursing with a focus on oncology, Nwozichi joined the KSU faculty in 2023. In addition to academic excellence and research, she became a Certified Clinical Nurse Practitioner in December 2023 and a Certified Oncology Nurse last month. Nwozichi was recently elected as vice president of Sigma Theta Tau’s senior nursing honors chapter.
«This prestigious recognition not only recognizes my dedication and contribution to the field of nursing and cancer care but also highlights the collective efforts and excellence of KSU,» he said. «My goal is to continue to improve health care access and quality for all, especially the underserved. This includes advocating for health care policies, educating the public, conducting research that has and influence, foster important relationships, and provide guidance to the next generation of nurse leaders.
Ramos and Nwozichi join KSU nursing professor Doreen Wagner, who became a Fellow in 2020.
The newest Fellows, selected from a competitive pool of applicants, represent 37 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and 14 countries. Their unique expertise and expanded knowledge base will soon strengthen the collective impact of more than 3,000 Academy Fellows to achieve the Academy’s vision of health for all.
Ramos, Nwozichi and the 2024 inductees will be recognized for their significant, lasting, and significant contributions to health and healthcare at the Academy’s annual ceremony. The Health Policy Forum, which takes place on Oct. 31 – Nov. 2 in Washington, DC during the induction ceremony on the evening of Nov. 2. After the ceremony, new inductees can use their FAAN (Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing) credentials, the highest honor in the nursing profession.
